TREE PLANTING ASSISTANT
TREEmate is a farmer-dedicated tree-planting assistant to guide them in planting and sustaining trees.
Agriculturea and smallholder farmers in particular are facing the extreme end of challenges that climate change has caused in the globe. From delayed rains, to floods, drought, army worm attacks among many other climate change effects, the smallholders farmer is experiencing a lot more uncertainty with every passing farming season.

Have you planted a tree seedling? When did you last check on it? Has it grown?
Answering the above questions may be difficult because at the moment, there’s too much focus on number of seedlings planted, and too little time spent on how to keep the trees alive in the long term, or in working with local communities.
Working with farmers, we want to not only plant hundreds of thousands with them, our goal is to instill in them the aspect of sustaining the planted trees.
Our 10 year goal is to work with at least 450,000 farmers with an annual planting pledge of 30 trees, translating to at least 13,500,000 trees planted. These trees will have the potential to sequester up to 300,000 tonnes of carbon at their maturity.
Farmers set annual targets for the number of trees they want to plant. They receive periodic reminders via TREEmate on the same throughout the year.
Farmers record information such as tree type planted, date planted, and tree coordinates for easy follow-up.
TREEmate shares tree post-planting treatment and care plans sent to farmers through the app and SMS
Share periodic visual reports that quantify to the farmer how much carbon their trees will sequester at their maturity.
